Is travel soccer a huge commitment of time for my child and family?
Most Sting travel teams practice twice a week for approximately an hour and a half, with usually one league game on the weekend. Teams do choose to play in tournaments during the season when it does not affect their league play.
How far do we have to travel?
Most league games are within a one-hour drive from Jupiter. Teams (coaches & families) will choose how far they want to travel for tournaments.
How much will it cost my child to play Travel Soccer?
Travel soccer has two fees: a registration fee and a team fee. The registration fee of $175.00 covers JTAA, FYSA, insurance and uniform package fees. Some teams may choose to offer additional uniform items that you have an option to purchase for your child, which will not affect their playing on the team. The second fee is the team fee which averages around $400. Each team (coaches & families) will determine and manage the budget and vision for their season which has a direct impacts their team fees.
How much time is my child going to play in each game?
Jupiter Sting Travel Soccer is a competitive soccer program and is not for every child or family. Competitive soccer is designed to develop a player’s skills, athletic ability and competitive drive for future growth in the game. Coaches and trainers will try to develop these skill sets, but in doing so may find that some athletes may not be developing as quickly, and will not get as much playing time, as it makes the team’s overall development less competitive. This is not about winning; it is the development of a competitive drive.
What makes Travel/Competitive soccer different then recreational soccer? Recreational soccer is focused on the equal playing in a non-competitive, social playing experience for youth soccer. Travel Soccer is designed to develop players’ passion, skill and level of competition, through professional trainers, dedicated volunteers and a specific standard level of competition.
What should I expect for the growth of my Child’s ability inside the Jupiter Sting Soccer Program?
Your child’s health and well being come first! We are all here to help grow the children in JTAA’s soccer experience, by providing a program focused on their development and passion for the game. But in saying this, we all must be reminded that all our children are not equal in their athletic ability, learned skills, passion for the game and competitive drive. We, as a club and as individual teams, can only provide the tools for learning (with professional licensed trainers and coaches) to develop growth. It is the players and their desire to grow that will make the greatest difference.
What can I expect for next season?
- All players will try out for an age appropriate level and, if selected, will be assigned to a team.
- Based on player turnout, it is possible to field multiple teams in each age bracket. Coaches will field teams to provide the greatest level of competition possible for the team and player development.
- Our club will only be as strong as our volunteer coaches. We will establish a coaching development program and opportunity for continued Licensing courses. We intend to offer an E and F course this summer before the 2010/2011 season begins.
- Individual Teams will be able to select the professional trainers that they desire to help their team grow. These trainers still need to meet the minimal requirements of the established guideline of JTAA and be officially approved.
What can I expect of you (JTAA Jupiter Sting Travel Soccer Board)?
We are unified and focused on providing the players and families of Jupiter/Tequesta with a program that they can be proud of in an environment where the players can grow their abilities and passion for "the beautiful game".
