The 2012 Spring Travel Basketball season will soon be upon us. Elementary school age and middle school age teams will have tryouts starting in mid December. The high school age teams will form upon the completion of the high school season. In an effort to prepare for this, the JTAA Travel Basketball board is preparing to take application for Head & Assistant coaching positions. Please note, in order to be eligible for a Head or Assistant Coaching position you MUST complete a Coaches Application. Assistant coach selection and approval will occur after the Head Coaches’ selections. Holding a position as a head or assistant coach during the 2011 travel season will be taken into consideration during selection, but does not guarantee retention of the same position for the 2012 travel season. All The Coaching Selection Schedule is as follows:
Deadline for HEAD COACH applications is Monday, 9/5/11. Please submit your application via e-mail to SWarburton@adamscoogler.com or fax to (561) 684-7346.
Each applicant should include the following in their application e-mail:
Name
Address
Date of Birth
Social Security Number
Phone (home & cell)
Occupation (travel or weekend commitments)
JTAA Coaching experience (all sports)
JTAA Recreational Basketball experience (coaching & directorships)
Travel Basketball experience (JTAA or otherwise)
Other applicable basketball experience (player or coaching)
Gender & Grade applying to coach Name, age, & grade of son or daughter that would be participating in the program
Prior to applying, be aware that a head or assistant coaching position is an enormous time commitment. Applicants whose occupation requires extensive weekday or weekend travel maybe better suited as an assistant coach. For a PDF version of the Coaches Application, click here. Last year, JTAA Jupiter Jaguar Basketball supported boys teams grades 4th-10th & girls teams grades 4th-11th. High school teams will be created based on interest level. NOTE: The USSSA girls division has gone to a “grade-base” format, therefore age is not the determining factor in player eligibility. Girls AAU Basketball is currently “age-base”, age determined as of July 1st for girls and September 1st for boys. Coaches of girls teams have the option to remain “age-base” to maintain AAU eligibility, and should make that request as part of their application.
