To register to be a coach, go here. Below, coaches can find the rules for the JTAA 2007 Soccer Season. If you would like a copy of these rules, click here. U8 GAME RULES All games will be played with a size 3 ball. All games will be split squad, with 5 players vs. 5 players and both games going on simultaneously. If a team does not have enough players to field two full teams, the games can be 4 vs. 4 or players can be borrowed from the other team. The goals is to get as many players participating as possible. Be flexible, please. Each game will consist of four 8 minute quarters, with a 2 to 3 minute break between quarters and a 5 minute halftime break. There will be one referee per game. If for some reason a referee is not available, coaches will take turn refereeing the game. The goalkeeper will be the LAST PLAYER BACK. This means whichever defender is closest to his/her team’s goal will be the goalkeeper, and can use his/her hands in the goal box. We want to encourage players to be active participants in games, and this allows defenders to move up the field with the ball. Goalkeepers must THROW OR ROLL the ball back into play. Punting is not allowed. Off-sides will not be called. There will be no corner kicks or goal kicks, with throw-ins from the corner used instead. RULES FOR COACHES It is a rule, not a guideline, that every player must play at least one half of every game unless a player or parent specifically request less playing time or the coach feels a player is in physical danger. It is up to the coach, not the player or his/her parents to keep track of substitutions to ensure that this happens. We don’t keep scores or standings, so coaches should try and give every player on the roster equal playing time. Coaches and players only on the sideline designated for the players. Coaches need to send parents and others to the designated parent areas at the ends of field or on outsides of field. There can be a maximum of three coaches on the sideline per team, the head coach and two assistants. As this is an instructional age league coaches should help each other communicate to the players the proper way to handle situations as they arise. Coaches can use the full sideline to communicate to their team but may not go beyond end line. U10 GAME RULES All games will be played with a size 4 ball. All games will be 8 players vs. 8 players. That is 1 goalkeeper and 7 field players. If teams do not have enough to play 8 vs. 8, the game will be played with even numbers, but no fewer than 6 vs. 6. Each game will consist of four 12 minute quarters, with a 2 to 3 minute break between quarters and a 5 minute halftime break. All basic soccer rules apply including offsides.
