The 2009 Spring Travel Basketball season will soon be upon us. Elementary school age and middle school age teams will have tryouts starting the weekend of November 22nd and November 23rd and continuing into December through the weekend of December 15th and 16th when team selections will be complete. The high school age teams will form upon the completion of the high school season. In an effort to prepare for this, the JTAA Travel Basketball board is preparing to take application for HEAD coaching positions. Assistant coach selection and approval will occur after the head coaches’ selections. Please note, holding a position as a head or assistant coach during the 2008 travel season will be taken into consideration during selection, but does not guarantee retention of the same position for the 2009 travel season. All returning coaches must submit an application. The schedule for this is as follows:
Deadline for HEAD COACH applications (via e-mail to r2@compassmtg.com or fax to 1-866-367-7133), Sunday 11/9/08 JTAA Travel Basketball Board HEAD COACHES selection, Friday 11/14/08.
Each applicant should include the following in their application e-mail:
Name
Address
Date of Birth
Social Security Number
Phone (home & cell)
Occupation (travel or weekend commitments)
JTAA Coaching experience (all sports)
JTAA Recreational Basketball experience (coaching & directorships)
Travel Basketball experience (JTAA or otherwise)
Other applicable basketball experience (player or coaching)
Gender & Grade applying to coach Name, age, & grade of son or daughter that would be participating in the program
Prior to applying, be aware that a head coaching position is an enormous time commitment. Applicants whose occupation requires extensive weekday or weekend travel maybe better suited as an assistant coach. Click here for the coach’s application.
JTAA Jupiter Jaguar Basketball will support boys & girls teams for players currently in grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades. High school teams will be created based on interest level. NOTE: The USSSA girls division has gone to a “grade-base” format, therefore age is not the determining factor in player eligibility. Girls AAU Basketball is currently “age-base”, age determined as of July 1st for girls and September 1st for boys. Coaches of girls teams have the option to remain “age-base” to maintain AAU eligibility, and should make that request as part of their application.
